2010 Montana Auctioneer Contest

Jim Cooper of C & L Auction in Billings, Montana won the title of State Champion at the contest held during the forty ninth annual Montana Auctioneers Association Convention in Livingston on January 22nd.   Cooper graduated from Western College of Auctioneering in 1997 and began the auctioneering profession in 2002.  In addition to getting his name engraved on the championship plaque of the Montana Auctioneers Association, Cooper also won a championship belt buckle and a cash prize.  Cooper added to his winnings by being chosen the People’s Choice Award voted on by the 150 plus attendees at the fun auction. Jayson Shobe, United County – Shobe Auction & Realty in Lewistown, Montana placed 2nd in the championships and Ed Hinton, Hinton Auction in Scobey, Montana places 3rd. Robert Toavs of Wolf Point, Montana showed well in his first contest winning the rookie division championship for auctioneers with three years or less of experience.  Second place in the rookie division went to Jeremy Young of Rick Young and Sons Auctioneers in Big Timber, Montana Fourteen auctioneers competed in this year’s contests.
